Still waiting for your coronavirus relief check? You may be able to speed up the process—but you have to act fast: If you want to receive your payment by direct deposit you only have until Wednesday, May 13 at noon (local time) to submit your information.

You can submit your banking information on the Get My Payment site run by the IRS. You’ll need to provide your Social Security number and date of birth to do so; you may also need to provide information from your most recent tax return.

If you don’t volunteer your direct deposit information by noon on May 13, you’ll have to wait for a paper check to come by mail. The IRS has sent out about 130 million payments so far, but later this month will transition to primarily paper checks to deliver the remaining stimulus payments of up to $1,200.

Those checks will be delivered based on the adjusted gross income (AGI) listed on your tax return, according to this schedule.

The online Get My Payment tool has been up and running since mid-April, but many people who visited it shortly after launch had trouble accessing it to find out the status of their payment.

If you had trouble determining your status or inputting your direct deposit info, you may have given up, figuring eventually you’d get your check by mail. But the IRS has updated its system since it originally rolled out the tool, meaning you’re way less likely to get an error message when you try to access the portal now.
